About

So.. this page is supposed to be about me. Here’s a quick rundown.

1978 Born in Oxford, England.

1978-1996 Raised in Bicester, just outside Oxford. Went to St. Marys Catholic primary school in Bicester, followed by Blessed George Napier school in Banbury (both in Oxfordshire). Notable events? Getting onto ITV show Wacaday in 1986, getting the school year onto ITV’s Motormouth TV show in 1990, being the best in the secondary school at cross-country running in 1993. Music-wise, buying my first record, Jack Your Body by Steve “Silk” Hurley around the end of 1985, beginning of 1986, following house music through the chicago house period, over to the UK, and then into rave music of all kinds.

1996-2000 Left home for Bournemouth University, studying a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering Management, achieving a higher second (2:1) qualification. Joined the DJ society and began playing in clubs around Bournemouth, including lap dancing club LoveSexy, London satellite club The Gardening Club and other univeristy venues including the Old Fire Station. Started writing music using Impulse Tracker for the PC, and distributing it for free using the self-managed Mad P mailing list. Began the blogging site DavesDomain, followed by Uphoriak Music. Spent three years living in Upper Terrace Road in the centre of town before moving out for the (heavy) final year.

2000-2003 Moved back to Bicester due to a lack of jobs in the IT industry on the south coast. Began work at Fibonacci Ltd, a software development company based in Oxfordshire. Lived in Langford Village until 2002 when a family bereavement meant moving back to the home I’d grown up in. Musicwise, production continued using Impulse Tracker, and a few releases were put out including the well-known Killerwhale on co-managed Nu Underground records. DJ-ing started to take off in London and around the midlands.

2004 Moved to Northampton to share a flat with a close friend. Music production took a nosedive thanks to the new version of Windows dropping support for Impulse Tracker, and a lack of knowledge – and frustration – with Cubase, which was eventually dropped. Began “Breakbeat Hardcore”, a website and record label in co-operation with friends and saw two releases. DJ-ing continued to grow, gaining slots at Moondance and Epidemik.

2005 Moved to Milton Keynes, purchasing a house. A month later, I met my soon-to-be-wife Shaz at a rave just outside Birmingham. Djing continues to improve, with slots at Raindance, Ministry of Sound, among others. Still no production however! Numerous fun things fill the year including a one-day snowball fight in Sweden, a jaunt around an abandoned mental asylum, numerous other urban exploration activities. Fibonacci Ltd moves to Silverstone Circuit, the home of British motor racing.

2006 Djing still going well, and I’m invited for the first of many occasions to play at the notorious Bang Face at Elektrowerkz in London. Production wise, Cubase is dropped and Sony’s Acid Pro is taken up, production work commences once again!

2007 DJing still going well and production is improving. A collaborative effort with DJ Luna-C results in the first proper release for two years, Smash Ya Face In. I propose to Shaz in the summer on Bournemouth pier, setting a wedding date in October 2008.

2008 I turn 30, fulfil my set-at-age-18 goals of having my own home, a decent car (a Chrysler), a good job with solid income, and a family. DJing continues at a number of raves including the first Bang Face Weekender where I DJ at a swimming pool party and in front of hundreds of ravers.. and I start this blog!
